Update

It has been a long time since I sat down for a new post. I have been having trouble uploading pictures. Now MH is out of town so I am... gasp... on my own. I am pretty pathetic, though, because I had the nanny come today, and tomorrow a substitute nanny is coming to help out. My main problem is how do I entertain the kids while I make lunch and dinner. We ordered pizza tonight, but the takeout here is pretty gross so I don't think I could stomach another meal like that. I guess we're going to have to try to stomach my cooking.

Actually, I've been doing more and more cooking lately. I try to cook one meal a week with the cook so she learns some other dishes. We really like her Bolivian dishes and she makes the most delicious spicy (greenish) spaghetti sauce with "chicken nuggets," but when we leave in a year, competion for a good housekeeper is going to be fierce. So on Friday I made my special tomato soup (with bread in the soup) and apple crisp. The cook didn't say it was good (maybe because she helped and felt like she'd be complementing herself?) but Ana, our nanny, said they were both muy rico... She especially liked the ginger ale I bought. Actually, they both went crazy over it. I can't blame them. I haven't had ginger ale since I was pregnant with The Girl. Very expensive (imported from Canada, of course), but good stuff.

So other than cooking, I've been keeping myself busy with more EFL students. The Embassy had to let some local-hires go and I wanted to continue teaching them, so now I am doing two evening classes a week. I have about 16 new basic and intermediate students. MH is a saint and is coming home early on those days so I can leave the kids. It is exciting, but I calculated that I only have 1 hour per "workday" to eat my lunch, plan for my classes, put away my laundry, do my Spanish hw...

The Boy's poop issue has gotten a little better. He's starting withholding again, so we're back to trying to figure out how to encourage him. I think he's ready to be potty trained, but we're nervous because we don't want to do anything to make him hold it in. We're having trouble regulating the medicine, so either we have nothing doing or it is more than any of us can handle. Any suggestions you have would be much appreciated.

The Girl has been teething terribly. She doesn't have many teeth on the bottom except her molars. Doesn't look like she's going to do things in the conventional pattern that most babies follow... but then again, I don't think her mom is very conventional either. Poor thing has been miserable, but she's back to eating her weight in food, so I guess we're through this rough patch.

Before I forget... our latest addicitons:
  • Fringe. JJ Abrams meets the X Files. Awesome.
  • Marching Powder is a book about this British guy that gets caught in Bolivia for smuggling coke. The descriptions of La Paz are amazingly accurate... for a dope fiend!
  • The Boy likes WALL-E and "grape" (blackberry) yogurt.
  • The Girl likes astronauts almost as much as The Boy (and almost as much as The Boy likes trains).
  • Fig newtons, ant traps, and salad dressing.
I'll try to find some time tomorrow to update our pictures...
