The Dog: The Queen Mother (me) is home so she's not allowed to sleep on the couch anymore. She's not too happy, but she does like that she gets cuddled and climbed on during the day. Her favorite thing is to hit The Girl in the face with her tail... oh, and meal time. She ends up getting whatever she can find on the floor. There's a lot there so she usually makes out pretty good.
MH: I think the hardest part of the move back home was for MH to get used to sharing the bed and having to go back to having "his side" and "her side" of the bathroom. Oh, he also has to get used to Victoria (the housekeeper) not giving him huge servings. She's trying to fatten the rest of us up.
The Boy: We're still having poop issues and they are getting worse. His record is 11 days without going. Nothing seems to work. We've tried it all. On the bright side, it took him about 12.2 hours to slip back into Spanish mode. He is amazing. The other day I was telling Victoria (in Spanish) that my cab driver said "Que rica" and I didn't know if he meant me or the money I gave him. The Boy then repeated the story to me in English. In English! He's a bit of a racial profiler, though. He refers to every Spanish-speaking male under the age of 11 as "Carlos." For example:
Me: Who bit you on the back at school and left a big purple mark on your shoulder?"
The Boy: Carlos.
Me: Where are your pants? And who is wearing your pants?
The Boy: Carlos.
Me: Whose birthday was it today?
The Boy: Carlos*
*In reality it was Matias' bday on Friday and the other Matias* bday on Monday. Maybe he's used to boys having the same name and Carlos is easier to say. He seems to keep everyone straight in his head. There isn't anyone in his class named Carlos, by the way.
The Girl: She's crawling all over the place and tries to stand up all the time. She gets to a squatting postion and then gives up, but she's going to have killer thighs! Her favorite thing to do is to point as a way of greeting. It is super cute. Almost as cute as her five-and-a-half teeth. That front one still hasn't come in all the way so she looks like she got into a fight with a hockey stick.
Me: I am back to teaching four English classes a week. I am also doing the community newsletter which doesn't seem worth the headache for only 10 hours a week, but it keeps me busy and I feel creative. It also gives me a reason to wear something other than jeans and Keens.
We're planning on spending Thanksgiving with friends here and we're counting down the days until Gigi and Uncle Brian's visit in December. That's about it. I know, pretty boring post. I'll try to do something stupid over the next few days so I have something to report.
